Doom 3

hey all,

I've been checking out the latest on Doom 3 and the things i'm seeing look great. By the sounds of things people are gonna need some high end systems to run it. Currently people are saying a p3 700mhz nd 128 ram will run it at bare minimum. But, this was the exact same thing they said with SOF2 and my 1.4 t-bird and GF2 MX400 could barely handle it. So i think they are gonna need to let the pulic know about the system requirements soon.

Anyone know of any good sites to check out doom3 stuff besides ID.

Hi,

My P3 550 ran SOF2 without a problem. I ran it at 800X600. Comments like that regarding a game always refer to running it at the minimum (around 800X600) with reasonable details turned on. What res and details did you use for SOF2?

Regarding Doom 3 most reports I have read indicate a requirement for a high end spec machine, in fact to run all details on most suggest that even a brand new speced machine will not cope too well.

Thanks

i tried to run SOF2 at 1024x768 with high detail. This was later dropped due to the low fps. but the jungle levels at low res are too hard are you cant see the person that is shooting at you.

This is a game that I really want to get but my P3 450 will not handle it that is for sure. So it is kind of like going to be a $1000+ game by the time I do the upgrade. I think I need more reasons than that to spend the $$$ so I guess I will be waiting a while. But I can still play xbox and gamecube so I will not be totally gaming deprived!

I think alot of people are waiting for this game to upgrade their machines including me.
When it does come out I do beleive the graphics at least will live up to the hype.
If this is the case you can expect to see alot more games utilizing this engine. Thus in about 6 months after its launch I would be expecting a whole bunch more games to entice you to upgrade.

I also wouldn't be surprised if manufuactures of 3D cards released packages that included this game, if they did they would get my cash (unless they take too long ).

Thanks

from the bits and pieces i have been reading i think that the game will be more dependent on your GPU.

the sound is also ment to be getting a huge workover in the game.

i have been putting $$ away since the day i heard D3 was coming out for an upgrade.

some of the screen (scream???) shots i have seen are totaly awesome!!!!

ID's games always kick ass!!! bring it on!
