What do you want a freeloader for? You can just as easily MOD your system and it's cheaper too. Go to a repair guy and tell him you want your system Modded !

That word freeloaders reminds me of what ID Software calls pirates:

Quote:
If you haven't paid for DOOM, you are playing illegally. That
means you owe us money. Of course, a guy like you probably owes
a lot of people money--your friends, maybe even your parents.
Stop being a freeloader and register DOOM. Call us now at
1-800-IDGAMES. We can help!
Quote:
Thanks for purchasing DOOM II. We hope you have as
much fun playing it as we had making it. If you don't, then
something is really wrong with you and you're different
and strange. All your friends think DOOM II is great.

Of course, DOOM II is a trademark of id Software,
copyright 1994-95, so don't mess with it. Remember, if you
are playing a pirated copy of DOOM II you are going to HELL.
Buy it and avoid an eternity with all the other freeloaders.
If you have any problems playing DOOM II, please call our
technical support line at (212) 951-3126.

Yep, infact you should also know that it's not just a PAL console, hold the B button as your turn on your GC and if the game supports it, then you'll have a 50/60Hz option. Well technically it is just PAL I guess (I had a big argument a while back with a guy who works at Dick Smith who said 60Hz was NTSC and I maintained it was PAL-60 NOT NTSC, now I have a gamecube I can confirm that it is PAL-60 and not NTSC since I put the TV in PAL mode to check). This has 2 advantages - 1. there's no need to make an NTSC signal thingy and 2. more TVs support PAL-60 then NTSC (a less known fact).

Anyhow I don't have a modded system myself but head over to cube.ign.com (with their ad-saturated website) and you can find the instructions somewhere (from memory the mods are almost the same for PAL and NTSC machines).

Ok enough of my mindless babble for now

Then MOD the system, it dosen't need any speial chips, just a switch some scotch tape, solder and a drill. Maybe a resistor or two somewhere, you chuck 'em in and you can play US games too. Some people think their waranty will be void if they mod the system, but hey some people will always be clueless, a warranty is still valid so long as if it fails it's a manufacturing fault and not your messy uncoordinated modification attempt. "Do I HAVE to activate Windows XP?" No of course not, crack it if you own it!

We have lots more rights then we're told you know!!

hang on a tic. I thought the US mod was only for US-->Jap cubes.

Are you saying that a standard PAL gamecube bought from Aust, can be modded to play imports (I don't care about copies/burns, just imports)

Yep, they sure can. I don't know if you can mod it to do Aus/US/Jap but you can certainly do Aus/US. There's some place on the net that sells modifications for Aus GameCubes.

Nothing from PAL-NTSC

Well hey. The freeloader is finally out and a few guys in the UK have received theirs.

Initial feedback has been pretty poor. One guy with 5 NTSC games couldn't get any of them working properly.

Anyone with one of these things on order should probably cancel asap.

You can still order one later on once compatibility lists are available. Its obvious now though that there wont be 100% compatibility.

Edge online (their import forum) is one place I found freeloader feedback on.
