Who uses JPEG?!?! Now if it could show PNG, BMP and TIFF then that might be something to go on about, but JPEG? By the way JPEG isn't even a real format that's a common misconception, JPEG is the name of the people who made the format. Anyhow I see you've left out some rather useful information such as: what's the unit's RRP? Does the unit show 8.1 (DOS) filenames or long filenames? Does it have random play functions? Optical/Digital/Coaxel/Inbuilt 5.1 Decoder???

Let's face it these days all DVD players are multi-zone, can it play RCE, does it have navigational difficuilties with known problem discs? Is the unit quiet?

you will never learn will you.

all Digital camera's are JPEG so it is very handy for putting together your own Photo albums to view on your TV and its getting even more popular as the days go on.

also the question you wanted to as was if it showed 8.3 caracter format not 8.1

he also states that the players have dolby Digital and DTS output. by that he means 5.1 and Coaxial DTS

as for other questions search the web and do some reading yourself. all you wanted to do was try to cause trouble.

Good cameras can save in BMP or PNG formats, there's no use of using lossy compression on an otherwise good photo!

You can vary the amount of compression on the JPEG for a start.
Plus, *most* consumer cameras use JPEG as default (and often no other format). Most consumers aren't too worried about it.
Serious camera users aren't going to be using a 98 bucks dvd player to display their photos anyway.

also how many people can aford to my the media to keep a BMP file on? that probably 2 photos per 64meg card.

I have a Fujifilm digital camera and the JPG files from that are as good if not better than standard 35mm film.

besides MPEG2 is higher compression than JPG
