Generic B!tch Thread

"The Rules"

Okay, this is where ya go if you have a gaming related beef. This can be on any of the three major consoles (being X-Box, PS2 and Gamecube ONLY for now).

PC has intentionally not been included because they are far too easy to b!tch about and would fill this thread in no time! ... and anyway; that's what Tech Forum is for

My first official b!tch was that I was in Electronics Boutique today to find that certain games tended to be a good $10-20 more expensive on XBox than Gamecube.

I asked the guy, and he said "Because the Gamecube disc is smaller". HA! Wonder how long he's been working there...

The question to that is, recently EA games have been dramatically reduced their price's in aus, such as 007 nightfire, ssx tricky and a heap of others!

I would purchase my anime dvds else where, however
  1. the manager always gives me $5 bux off the $35 dollar titles (as he knows that im a regular there)
  2. no other retailers stock a wide range of anime titles but EB, unless its DBZ, Pokemon, Sailormoon or Beyblades

Oops, sorry, there's no bitching done here, I guess my bitch is about all the consoles because games are sooo damn expensive $100 each? geez, only if they were $70 each

Cool

Wow, a b.tch thread started by a b.tch, this is unusal! LOL.

Anyhow everything is more expensive on X-Box then Gamecube. Still I'm annoyed that Microsoft came in to take over. MICROSOFT MUST DIE! MICROSOFT MUST DIE! Anyhow Mac the GC disc is much cheaper to produce and it's also less PIRATED (piracy fources prices of the real-deal to go up). Still you're right that clueless sales clerk is missing a brain link there, he seems to have the logical abilities of a fly, so leave him clueless in his feebled minded state in lala-land, before he realise what a complete and utter clueless moron he is to talk about things of which he has no idea about.

OK here's a good bitch that, um, well I've had on my mind for years really. Loosly releated - I've always agreed with price-matching, that's a good policy and people love it. However Bunnings started an anti-compedative scheme that they would not only match, but BEAT prices (we all know Magnet Mart was always better). For YEARS I've wondered why MM dosen't just sell some stuff at Wholesale so that bunnings looses money.......

.......And then I saw on A Current Affair that this guy was selling PS2s for $199 (the wholesale price) and K-Mart with their "we'll match the price and take 10% of the diffrence" policy REFUSED everyone who wanted them to price-match it. I thought to myself "FINALLY someone else FINALLY had my idea AND made it a reality!!" As you know the price K-Mart is COMPELLED to sell their PS2's for when shown that ad is $183.90 (LESS THEN WHOLESALE). The ACCC is angry because K-Mart CAN NOT have that policy and then refuse it in extreme circumstances (eg just because it's less then the wholesale price). Weird that number, I was born in 1983.... interesting, anyway I'm glad someone had the balls to #%&? people who make those damned anti-compedative policies!

I also saw that A Current Affair segment and laughed at K-Mart's attempts to avoid the match. It was incredibly irregular that they were mysteriously "out of stock", especially with Christmas less than a week away.

IF I was that business owner, I'd have about 5 or so for sale with each catalogue at the permanant price of $199.99 so K-Mart would have to KEEP them off the shelves.

Then, if K-mart Was to match it, then all he'd have to do is buy them straight from them for that price and put it in his own business' stock so he's not making a loss when selling at the promised price.

------

Overall; an *awesome* way to f##k with K-Mart.

Doesn't KMart list "Conditions Apply" to their price matching?
I am fairly sure that they do not have any obligation to match EVERY single price. If it falls below their cost, they don't have to match. This applies to pretty much all of Coles-Myer retail outlets.

That's illegal Mac, don't any of you have a grasp of the Law here? You can't advertise something unless you have enough stock to meet the demand, the only exception being for closing down sales. This is (obviously) to stop places drawing people in with really good offers. The main objective being to get people into the store. So if that EVER happens to you (and it will) talk to the (senior) manager and tell him you're reporting this to this ACCC.

And DVDUDE no they don't have that in their conditions and I don't think it would be legal to either. The ACCC spokesman said K-Mart was obligated to honor their match&beat on the PS2s.

If I remember correctly they said K-Mart also don't match on other things that give too much of a discount. The way I understand it is if you're going to make a policy like that you can't then exclude it from certain PRICE RANGES, however you can from certain products (you know *does not apply to comuter game consoles). You can't say "*does not apply to prices which fall within 5% of wholesale" because the way I understand it people are not going to know what wholesale is and it's unrealistic to expect them to know that. That said it isn't in K-Marts conditions anyway, most likly because it can't be put in there.

Regie,

Mac never said he wouldnt have stock. You don't have to have stock to meet all demand. That's impossible to do. How can you tell how many people are going to want the product? You simply must have stock available for sale at the time you advertise. If it subsequently sells out, then too bad for Mr Consumer.

I've worked for Coles-Myer retail before, and the Price Match policy was always set so that you would never lose money on an item. Things may be different nowadays though as this was a couple of years back.

dvdude he said he'd have 5 or so for sale, and yes you do need to have enough to meet the demand, IT IS THE LAW. You can tell how many people are going to want to buy it using your product statistics of course, good old mathematics! And the spokesman for the ACCC said what K-Mart was doing is illegal.

Ok, time to wrap this K-mart cr@p up. It's filling this Generic B!tch Thread.

Maybe it would be worthwhile creating another thread on the K-Mart saga...
