Mortal Kombat - Deadly Alliance
Anyone seen footage? There is a good Preview on February's PSW magazines rolling demo DVD. Looks excellent, so much blood too.. From the look of it, looks more like Soul Calibre 2 except with a boggon load of blood.
Unfortunately the DVD did not show any fatalities, and the version of Sub Zero is the non ninja version . But it does look quite good. And if your a fan of Lui Kang, then too bad he is gone!!With this title and Soul Calibre 2, Tekken 4 and Virtua Fighter 4 I am having major problems in deciding on another fighting title to go with Tekken Tag. I think Mortal Kombat will be the definitive choice, cos after all I was a Mortal Kombat fan from the original game, when everyone else played Street Fighter II. Musta been the bloody and Sub Zeros fatality where the head was ripped off, with the spine dangling... ![]()

I've played the XBOX version. Very pretty, movement is a little stiff though. Not a big fan of the series but I can see how an enthusiiast would love it. Blood galore but it's not realistic lookin'. Basically its a solid XBOX fighter with great lighting effects. Still nothing on the more fluid and beautiful DOA3. If I owned an XBOX ....I wouldn't buy it.
As for the PS2 version I have no idea. My guess is its the same, but with a lot of the lighting effects missing and textures dumbed down. My advice for a PS2 owner with Tekken Tag is... 1. Buy VF4 - the only fighter on PS2 that makes XBOX owners jealous. 2. Wait for Soul Calibur 2 as it will ROCK. 3. Don't buy Tekken 4 unless someone wants to swap it for Tekken Tag and a bowl of rice. 4. Get Mortal Kombat if you're a fan. It gets the job done.

I imported this baby from the US. Has real crankin graphics (Hell, you can see Sub Zero breathe ice through his nose and have dry-ice smoke coming off his frozen hands). The costumes all look incredibly neat and Detailed, and whilst as Orko said there was no "Ninja" Subzero, The new Sub kicks @$$. (However, a lot of the 'old' costumes are unlockable in The Krypt so don't be surprised if the 'old' Sub Zero pops up there). The fatalities were the only letdown in the game. Each player only has 1 fatality each, with no Stage Fatalities being possible. Worse, a lot of the fatalities were the same unrealistic type of ones as in MK3. (Personally I Loved the MK4 fatalities because they were keeping it a little more real). This is possibly to get in the good books with the MPAA or whoever it is that rates games. As Ork-Daddy also stated, Liu Kang.... need I say more? The opening credits left me stunned. I couldn't believe what I had just seen!!! (And no, I'm not referring to the great FMV graphics). Might get off my @$$ and do a review on this game (along with Dead To Rights, Fatal Frame and a few others I imported), but don't think anyone really cares about my Game Reviews ![]() |

Does Johnny Cage still have the punch in the nuts?? I loved doing that move. Wasn't very practical though.

I too agree this game rocks. I have imported the gamecube version, and can't seem to put it down. The fatalaties are a lot easier to pull off now with a five button combo, which makes it a lot easier. About the only problem i have is the gamecube controller, definately not made for fighting games
All i need now is a decent arcade stick. |

I find that the XBox controller perfectly complements the game.
Thank god they didn't make the Joystick a necessity, they let you use the D-Pad (I have always been better with the Pad). The combos are much easier as you dont have to use that stupid "Run" button that was in MK3. The swordfights are AWESOME with the ability to have some really cool swashbuckling adventures - right down to the metallic *clang* of two swords meeting in a block. |

The footage I saw showed the sword being wedged in the bloke, with a gallon of blood pouring everywhere. Looked great.
Yeah stuff the analogue stick. d-pad for Fighting Titles all the way.

Indeed. The analog stick is too hard to keep control of in fast situations.
Instead of it being a quater towards, it keeps rolling into a half. |

AND I hope you imported Metroid Prime as well. If you did what do you think of it? Game of the year?

Damn, just hired it overnight, and I thought getting blisters from a control pad where over!!
This game rocks. Just finished playing it after 8 hours straight (5 of which with a mate) and a huge blisters is starting to form on my left thumb and right middle and index fingers. I love the 3 fighting styles you can cycle through, then skewer them with your sword/weapon and they lose small amounts of health until the end of the round or they pull it out. and the intro.... I was devistated. This is one game I'm going out and buying ASAP!! ![]() |

I had been waiting for this game to come out for over 6 months and it hasnt let me down. I am yet to own it for myself but I have played it alot at a mates place and it is awesome.
He has Sub Zero's ninja costume unlocked which looks way better than him with no mask. Scorpion is by far my favourite though, like always. |

MKDA is pretty cool, though I'll put my money on tao feng turning out to be the best fighter available on xbox, even over DOA3. From all hands on previews from at least 4 different sites including ign and gamespot, tao feng already hits the spot, and there is still some tweaking to be done before release. Also, I do see the next virtua fighter making it's way to Xbox, possibly even the xbox aracade hardware first. Sega has now announced it's multi platform plan, so don't be surprised if we get virtua fighter, and ps2 gets panza dragoon, be it a pathetically inadequate version of panza
