A late reply to this thread, but had to add this one for posterity...

For torture scenes, there's that great bit in Marathon Man where...

Spoiler! highlight to see
poor Dustin Hoffman is tied to the dentist's chair and menaced by former Nazi dentist Laurence Olivier; Hoffman has no idea why and Olivier repeats "is it safe?" as he comes towards him with the drill - the chilling Olivier has a later great line (if memory allows me to recall most of it intact) "Don't worry, I'm not going into that cavity again, a freshly cut nerve is infinitely more painful"

Favourite 'realistic' Torture/Death scene (well, it's not that I like it, but certainly very cringeworthy) is in American History X:
Spoiler! highlight to see
Where he makes the guy place his open mouth on the gutter, and then stomps on the back of his head

Favourite 'Hollywood' death scene(s) - pretty much any of the deaths from the Final Destination movies, particularly in No. 2 where:
Spoiler! highlight to see
the guy gets sliced by the flying fence!

My favorite decapitation scene though is that in The Omen where...

Spoiler! highlight to see
David Warner bends down in an alley to retrieve the holy daggers and a van loaded with large sheets of glass (window panes?) rolls towards him, stops suddenly and as he looks up one of the glass sheets slides off the back of the van and slices his head off as the camera (from many angles and often in slow motion) shows the severed head roll down the full length of the glass sheet... classic stuff

Wow, I didn't know this thread existed.
Favourite (and funniest) death scene: in Pulp Fiction, when Vincent accidentally blows off that guy's head in the backseat. Then they have to clean it up!

A recent-ish Van Damme movie where this bloke uses an electric drill on the unsuspecting victim, going through knee-caps, his wrist, various other bits then into the side of his head.

There is an awesome movie called High Tension ..if you like horror and haven't watched this movie go out and get it..IMO it was one of the better horror movies of the last 5 years..

Anyway there is a scene in there where a killer slices a ladys throat then procedes to tear her head off ..the sounds are just horrific ..and so are the visuals.....

Actually there is a cool scene in the movie "Blood Sucking Freaks" where a guy rips out a girls teeth with pliers, then drills a hole in her head with hand drill then puts a straw in the hole and sucks out the goodness..mmmm brains!

Hostel

Simply has to be Hostel

This movie started as a bit of a typical european voyeur type move then just goes off and ends up being a full on torture fest.

The scenes are very graphic and a few people actually got up and walked out, a few people even cheered after the final scene.

Certainly not one for those who do not like extreme graphic depections of violence as they are done very realistic and cuts a chill through you.
