Thumbs down LG LST-4100P to DR4812W

Hi, I recentry bought STB & DVD-recorder as a package with TV.
I read about some problem with the recorder (DR4812W) on this forum.
Now I am trying to record from STB. Those sounds are good but the picture has strtched about 20% to longitudinal direction. Watching TV though STB is perfect.
STB to DVD-R is connected from AV Out to AV In.
I try to contact with LG Australia, and no reply.
Help me, please!

Is that while you monitor through the recorder?.the recorder should have settings to do with screensize to record and playback...how is it if you use the tv connection to the recorder?..The stb should also have screen adjustments like normal/widescreen.
good luck..

Question

>The stb should also have screen adjustments like normal/widescreen.

Thank you for replying to the thread, termite.
I can't find any out put adjustment on the STB.
LG STB has S-Video Out, Video Out, Component Video Out, RGB Out,
DVI Out, as picture out-put. There's a switch to Component & RGB/DVI.
LG DVD Recorder has 1 & 2 Video In & Audio In, S-Video In, and DV-In.
TV works fine (right aspect as broadcast) with STB Video out.
As I tried the connection from STB to TV is perfect.
As played from DVD Recorder to TV is perfect.
Just I can only recording with 7:4 ratio picture from STB to DVD recorder.
There must be some kind of compression from STB to DVD-recorder.
As the monitor (RT-44S7280LB) has aspect adjust, but not the DVD recorder.
Does somebody have solution?

dvd recorder should have some settings for aspect..Pioneer and Panasonic units I use do have settings to change...But whether that will change any thing don't know..
But again when you monitor the stb through the recorder what happens?

When I monitor STB through DVD recorder, I see 7:4 stretched picture same aspect as recorded STB broadcast.
LG has recording aspect change from 16:9 to 4:3. It does change the recording aspect. I find there are shrink on either side about 10% on 4:3 recording, stretched sideways enlarged picture on 16:9 recording.
These change doesn't make any difference the monitoring STB through DVD recorder.

!!! My set up is that my stb is connected to the recorder and recorder to monitor. With my stb {DGTEC DH2000A} picture quality is reduced if more than one output is used. The stb is set to normal and my recordings seem to be OK, but must admit sometimes do have to play with the monitor to fit the image exact...all the best..

what firmware version do you have?

apparently in this thread http://www.dtvforum.info/index.php?showtopic=8923&st=0 a newer firmware allows you to change the screen size and stuff.

might want to check it out.
