Teletext doesnt work on LVW 5005

Have just replaced a Sony VCR with a Liteon LVW 5005 - seems just fine - except, on Brisbane's Channel 7 on the 5005's Tuner, coded Teletext is not sent to my TV's decoder.

If I unplug the 5005 from the TV's AV input and replug the VCR - Teletext is fine. Reconnect the 5005 no Teletext.
Channel 7 picture is fine - so tuning is okay but somehow the Teletext code has been stripped out. Any ideas?
