AWA DVD W2051K Region code?
I can't get my AWA W2051K DVD Player to go all region.
http://forums.eyo.com.au/arc/t-54492.html I found the above topic. That guy had the same DVD player as me and managed to get his player to go all region. I used the same code in that topic and i can't get it to work .Setup on remote...on front panel - Next, Stop, Pause, Prev, Next. Nothing happens when i do this. Can anyone help me? Thanks a lot. |

Just a quick read on the thread you mentioned, the person could have used that method, or a completely different method. Fingers crossed. ![]() |

Thanks. I did what you said. Let's hope he replies.
I've tried everything. I will have to take the DVD player back if he doesn't reply. |

If it's fairly new, you could try the place you bought it.
Most of them have a list, or can give you a contact number. If you do get a solution, be sure to post it here for others. |

Thanks again.
I bought the DVD player a few hrs ago from Big W. A leaflet with AWA's "warrantry phone number" came with the DVD player. I will call that number tomorrow and see if they can help me, or take the DVD player back to Big W and exchange for another DVD player if no one on here, the AWA number or Big W can help me. |

Some players only allow the region hack to work with the tray open, you could try that, also double check that you are using the prev/next buttons and not the ff/rw buttons as this is a common mistake. Do you have a link to the manual, if I can see what chipset is used you could try the hacks that are used by other players with the same chipset, a lot of manufacturers don't alter the default settings.

I tried your suggestions. Nothing works. AWA have no website and it doesn't say what chipset the DVD Player uses in the manual that came with it.
The people on the AWA "warranty number" were no help. So everyone....The AWA DVD W2051K DVD Player is a good budget DVD player but i wouldn't recommend buying it if you plan on playing DVD's from other countries. I will take the DVD player back to Big W tomorrow and exhange it for another one. Thanks a lot for trying to help guys. |

Even the manual that came with DVD player has no pics of the menu (i was going to scan it) nor does it have instructions on how to navigate the menu.
The menu is the one with 5 or 6 pictures at the top (my brother has a Sonwa DVD player with the same menu system but less options) indicating different pages of options. The last picture is of a red cross. The first page is "General Options." |

If you have digital camera take a photo of the menu screen and post it and I could probably identify it from that. Also have a look at www.ausdivx.tk on the off chance that you recognise the menus from one of the screen shots there, might save some trouble if you see something similar. |

The menu screen on my AWA DVD Player is the same as the Zensonic Z300/330 DVD Mpeg4 Players on that link you gave.
![]() My Preferences page is a little different to the one below though. The same options as below except mine has an extra option - "Country Region" - where i can pick China, France, USA, GBR. I'm not sure what this is supposed to be for. I've tried R1 Discs when USA has been selected and tried R2 Discs when GBR was selected. ![]() I tried using the "1006" code that was on the page where i got the above screenshot from. I think the menu screen on my AWA DVD player is a newer version. Last edited by Ozziegav; 23-10-2004 at 02:19 AM.. |

I got it! I got It! I can now play DVD's from all regions!
http://home.swiftdsl.com.au/~wweb/xm...ms989hints.htm I looked on the page above (for another DVd player with similar menu system) and it said to type in 1379 to find out the firmware version nujmber. That worked for me. I then typed in the same code on the Preferences page and a box popped up allowing me to change the Region code to 0! So anyone with a AWA W2051K DVD Player: 1) Make sure the there is no disc in the tray and that it's closed. 2) Type in "1379" on the "Preferences" page 3) A box will come up allowing you to change the Region code from "4" to "0". Thanks a lot guys for all your help. Very much appreciated. |

HI there all. Im very happy to see that this got sorted out because I bought (from Big W) a DVD recorder/vcr combo for christmas (its on layby right now) .... Its version however is W1090... do you think this same method will work for me?
Thanks! Ac |

I very much doubt it will be the same, MediaTek based recorders are only just coming to market now, this one is most likely LSI based as they are currently the cheapest chipset available. Should still be able to do via a remote hack anyway, finding this kind of info out from BigW might be a challenge though.

Because this thing is SOOOO cheap, Im assuming the chipset (like you said) is the cheapest out there. Is there like a standard or typical hack (or group of hacks) that I could try? Thanks! Ac |

AWA dvd player W2051k
Can anyone help me? I just bought an AWA dvd player W2051k and want to know if it plays mp3's and also if it can read burnt dvd's. It doesn't mention that it can on the box. I haven't opened it yet and if it doesn't then I think I will return it to buy a better one. Cheers

HI all, I just want to check, I have this same AWA model DVD player and I have done the little trick talked about previously in this thread to change the region to 0. I just need to double check before I fork out a mint to buy CSI DVDs from the USA that they should work now. (Call me obsessive but I just need to double check)

Couldn't change the region code:(
Hi
I tried the trick mentioned to change the region code but it wouldn't work what am i doing wrong?I made sure there was no disc in and the tray was closed and then pressed ''set up'' then entered the 1379 code and sure enough the next screen showed up with a lot of info and the last column saying ''region code'' and ''4'' was there ''highlighted'' in green I pressed "0" but nothing happened it wouldn't change Currently having to send all my non region 4 discs to melbourne to a mate to get converted,he doesn't mind but it's a hassle, especially as others here have ben able to change the code from 4 to 0. Any help would be appreciated. If am doing something wrong please let me know - thanks ![]() |
