Yeah, it looks like a good idea and potentially a great gadget if it has been designed right.

However this article from Smarthouse magazine doesn't inspire a lot of confidence.
In part it says,
"The Australian developed D1 Media Centre has been described as a "dud" with resellers retuning stock and others complaining that they have not achieved any sales despite ranging the product for weeks."

The one thing in the description that had me scratching my head was when they kept saying that you can fast forward live tv.
OK, so you are recording to the hard disc and can then pause, rewind, fast forward, etc. But to say you can fast forward live tv is stretching things a bit.

I'm sure it won't be too long before we'll all be buying something similar to this though.

Depending on the price it goes to I'd say BUY IT! If you are thinking of a DVD recorder or similar...this is just a few steps further. It is a bargain at its current price. I think the functions are worthy of a "Home Cinema" Room.

By all means consider the reviews and I have just the one opinion. I have a rule I go by before I buy something is:
Do I want it?
Does it have what I need?
Is the price right?
And lastly can I get it cheaper anywhere else?

If the answer is yes my advice is sure go for it!

Cheers

Travis

I'm always a bit wary of some of this new stuff u see on eBay, but my main question about the D1 would be where do you buy accessories/get it serviced/warranty repairs?

No point buying anything that has no backing of any sort. (Unless you're prepared to take the risk.)
