yeah, weve done a bit of unorthodox mods to our local fire brigade tanker,
couple of train horns hooked up to the air tanks, unbelieveable!

Got the Astra SRi back. $1039 poorer.

Hi all,

I got my Astra back from the mechanic yesterday.

He tells me the flywheel has a few hot spots and that is what is causing the
vibration & slight grinding noise when engaging and disengaging the clutch.
After road testing he believes there is no need to replace any clutch parts
because there is no slippage.

I also have new front disks and pads. That's the first set of disks in 140k kms
and the second set of pads. $130 for the pad set and $260 for the disks.

I got him to flush the cooling system, diagnose the slightly rough idle
(probably slightly fouled oxy sensor but not serious enough to warrant $200 part
replacement) and check the tune, diagnose the more obvious temperature guage
needle movement (only a couple of millimetres up and down but more than I was
used to), put in new gearbox oil and flush the clutch. Plus a full service and
safety check.

So lots of labour and more than a few dollars in parts/fluids too.

My most expensive bill yet, but when you look at the list of things he did I'm
amazed it only cost $1k.

Forgot to get him to fit the truck air-horns. :(

A mate of mine once had a Mitsu L300 with train horns. The fun that could
be had with those things...

Also, you knew when he was on his way to a party or your place because he'd
announce his imminent arrival from the next suburb :)
