Why is what other people are doing frustrating?
Surely the more people in the bus lane, the less people in your lane? The
end result is better for you.

Re: Bus lanes free for all !

Bus lanes are great. I can zip along past all the traffic in the other
lanes. Saves on travelling time by more than 50%. Should be the whole way to
the M4.

Gee I love my motorcycle.

Bus lanes free for all !

Please oh plese tell me where the Police are at 4PM any weekday
afternoon on Paramatta Rd from Broadway to Ashfield.

Bloody frustrating to be stuck in traffic and finding car after
car...and motorcycle using the bus lane as their own freeway.

Because buses can get to their destination quickly...maybe even
encouraging people to use the bus.

Well that would be novel. Here in Brisbane the (previous) City Council
have hit on an exciting way of reducing traffic.

Normally this is done by improving public transport, and adding
infrastructure for buses etc. This makes people think 'Wow - that looks
so much better than slogging through traffic!'. But unfortunately this
costs money.

Here in Brisbane the tactic is:

1. Reduce the number of lanes available to traffic to increase the
travel time for both people who could catch public transport and those
for whom it would add an hour to travel times. This is particularly
clever when the lane is permanently a bus lane, so that on the weekend
everyone can enjoy the view of an empty lane that will never need
resurfacing.
2. Reduce the number of public car parks, make the cost of a meter more
expensive than an undercover car park and make sure that new building
development isn't required to have any / sufficient car parks.
3. Permanently book _floors_ of public car parks for your council
vehicles (yes - seriously).
4. Make sure your buses pollute more than any 100 cars - and make sure
it's that extra healthy particulate emissions that lodge in lungs of
people both inside and outside the buses.
