Hello all at DVD Swapmeet (Aust),

I have received an email from Watcher about my DVDs & VCDs for sale in which it is stated that "People are concerned that they are pirate"

For all those unfamiliar with the "Adult" DVD industry, they do not regionally encode DVDs of this genre. Unlike the "Hollywood" type movies that are religiously encoded to maintain the patronage (value) of the local picture theatre markets.

What all this means that the motion picture studios are trying to prevent people in Australia, for example, buying a DVD of a blockbuster hit movie in the US resulting in poor box office numbers for the movie when it is released in Australia. They want the movie released to the theatres BEFORE the movie is released as a DVD here.

As you are unlikely to see the "Adult" genre movies in a mainstream picture theatre, "Adult" DVDs are not regionally encoded.

My best advice, for anybody with concerns about anything regarding someone's post on this forum: "Ask the person who posted the thread before you go to the "Watcher" as there may be a perfectly logical explanation. If not, THEN ask the "Watcher".

Yep, shows you how many kids frequent this site looking for explisit material. And your prices are actually quite good too (for DVDs), and many good Hollywood films are released as R0, generally not the newest ones, but what can you do?

Yes, I was contacted and had to follow it through as that's what I'm here for.

Yes, the person(s) should have maybe contacted the seller personally, but I got the impression that they wanted to avoid saying anything in public so they don't give the seller a bad name and that they wanted to go through me as to avoid any direct conflict with the seller.

Yes, their knowledge of the subject may be limited as they may not view or purchase adult material.
To be honest, I don't watch adult material and I'm pretty unfamiliar with the subject myself(apart from the obvious stuff ).
I don't know why they were looking at the thread in the first place if they don't buy it, but that's not for me to say.

I don't think they were accusing the seller of anything, but were "concerned" as soon as the words "no region" and possibly "VCD" came up and wanted me to look into it.
(Yes, we've had this debate many times before)

The seller has given a very good explenation of the region coding situation with these tiles and I hope this clears things up.

I think it's established now that the titles are legit and the seller has a good reputation and that it doesn't hurt to contact a seller and ask questions (nicely) before going to a moderator.

I wish the seller the best of luck with the sales and please don't turn this into a heated debate as this section is aimed more at transactions and not major discussions.

I'm merging the 2 threads together so that this is all in one thread.
