Nah, it was all horseshit. Even back then I couldn't be brainwashed. I
was never interested in religion, even in my younger and stupider days.
Like the Youth Group I belonged to when I was twelve. I liked the group,
but wasn't remotely interested in the whole christian thing.

The Alice dry as a bone if you like desert. About 30,000 people live
there and nearby is the American spy base of Pine Gap. Monsoonal
Darwin, named after the great naturalist, is completely different.
There the crocs are big, the wet is very wet and lightning strikes
more often there than anywhere else. Much of the Timor Sea oil and gas
business is based there. About 100.000 people live there. It is the
weirdest place in Australia. On negative is the giant LNG liquefaction
plant being built right on the harbour close to thousands of people. A
potential accidental explosion waiting to happen or a terrorist
target. And cane toads, an import from Hawaii that got well and truly
out of hand, will soon call Darwin home. Another negative, cyclones.
They hit Darwin every 40 years or so and the last one was 30 years
ago. Yet another negative. Pretty well everything has to be freighted
in from down south so you pay dearly to live.

I lived in Darwin and then Katherine for 6 years and the difference wasn't
that great. In fact a lot of stuff was cheaper.

Well there is lots in the south mainly in a little belt in SW Western
Australia centred around Perth. Very nice there. I lived in Perth from
87-97. Then there is the belt from Adelaide stretching through
Victoria up the eastern side of NSW to SE Queensland. Over 90% live in
those two belts. And not to forget Tassie. My 2 fav areas are the
Darling Ranges east of Perth and the North coast of NSW.
